The minor Complex Systems is aimed at a broad audience of undergraduate students. It gives bachelor’s students the opportunity to gain knowledge about concepts such as emergence, self-organization and adaptation. Interdisciplinarity plays an important role in this minor. The students see the application of complex systems models in different disciplines and corporate with students that are enrolled in a different major.
The minor consists of an introductory course, an advanced course, an elective course and a final project.
- Level 1: Introduction Complex Systems (course code: BETA-B1CS). Period 3 of Utrecht University's academic year (usually from February to April)
- Level 2: Methods and Models in Complex Systems (course code: BETA-B2CS-A). Period 1 of Utrecht University's academic year (usually from September to November)
- Choose an elective course:Biological Modelling (course code: B-B2THEC05), Computational Biology (course code: B-B3COMB10) or Turbulence in Fluids (course code: NS-376B).
- Level 3: Complex Systems Project (course code: BETA-B3CS). Period 4 of Utrecht University's academic year (usually from May to July)
