Academic calendar | Semester I: 2nd week of April – 1st week of August Orientation generally commences the last week of March for Semester I and the last week of September for Semester II. Exams take place late July for Semester I and late January for Semester II. |

Requirements | GPA (Average Grade) The GPA requirement at this university is 3.0. This is comparable to an average grade 7.0 or above at Utrecht University. This concerns the average of all your UU grades and is a strict requirement, to be fulfilled at the time of application at UU. Applications with lower grades will be rejected. Language Requirement After selection by Utrecht University, you will have to fulfill the language requirements: KUINEP is the English-taught program. KUINEP students are therefore expected to be proficient in English (TOEFL iBT 79, IELTS 6.5, or equivalent) and have to prove this with a TOEFL/IELTS test result or another language certificate accepted by Kyoto University. General Exchange Students who want to take courses in Japanese are expected to be proficient in Japanese, equivalent to pass the highest level of Japanese Language Proficiency Test. |

Housing assistance | One on-campus and four off-campus International Houses of Kyoto University, and other dormitories are offered for international students. All exchange students are entitled to live in one of them as long as there are enough dormitory rooms available. Kyoto University lodging facilities can be found here. |
Estimated living costs per month | Although the cost of living varies depending on factors such as housing expenditure and food budget, the average living expenses for international students are around ¥80,000 (€560) per month.
