Utrecht University's academic year is divided into two semesters, each consisting of two periods. Lectures, classes and exams take place in these periods, although some programmes may slightly differ from the dates below. It is best to check your programme's timetable to see the exact dates. The only exception to this is the Christmas break, during which there are no educational activities, tests or resits.
Winter break: 27 December 2021 - 7 January 2022 (week 52 and week 1)
Non-teaching Days: Good Friday (15 April), Easter (17 and 18 April), King’s Day (27 April), Liberation Day (5 May), Ascension Day (26 May) and the day after, Whitsun (5 and 6 June)
Non-teaching days: Monday 26 December t/m Friday 6 January (week 52 en week 1)*
End of period 4: Friday 30 June (the Friday of week 26)
Non-teaching days: Monday 25 December t/m Friday 5 January (week 52 en week 1)
End period 4: Monday 28 June (week 26)
* Note: For students of the faculty of Humanities the winter break starts on December 26th and ends on January 13th.
