Information security – Share files securely with SURFfilesender

There are many different ways to share files with others. However, not all of them are safe. Free tools may sound appealing, but there's no such thing as a free lunch. Downsides may include your data being made accessible to others.

SURFfilesender (part of SURF) neither analyses nor views your data, so it's the safest way to send (large) files. You can:

  • Send files with a size of up to 500 GB;
  • Encrypt files with a size of up to 2 GB;
  • Share files with both colleagues and external parties.

Encryption

When you want to send a file with sensitive data you can use SURFfilesender to enable encryption. The receiver will receive the encrypted file and he/she can only open it with the password you've set. You shouldn't send the password in the same message as the file.
