The UU is constantly working on the security of personal data and UU data. You will therefore receive regular updates about new developments and what that means for you. In addition, many other things about working safely are already known for a longer time. On this page you will find all the information you need to work safely now and in the future.

Switch on security

Our Switch on Security campaign has started! In the near future you will see various messages on the student site and on the university's social media. Visit https://www.uu.nl/en/switchonsecurity for more information.

How can we help you?

Alternatives to sites and apps

On the site https://switching.software you will find a wide range of responsible, privacy supporting services, from social media to operating systems.

Tooladvisor

Visit https://tools.uu.nl/tooladvisor to see which tools are safe and which are less safe or unsafe. If the UU offers a safe alternative, it is listed here.

The university undertakes numerous steps to guarantee safe online studying. In regard to this the university has an agreement with staff and students. This is laid down in the university information security policy. You can read in our IT regulations to which rules students and staff have to comply.

If you suspect or observe a software malfunction or an information security incident or threat, or a personal data breach, report this as soon as possible at CERT-UU.

You can do this by e-mail to cert@uu.nl or (in urgent situations) by telephone via (030) 253 5959. More information can be found on the CERT web page.
