ELAN: Charles University Prague
Charles University Prague is a destination within the European Liberal Arts Network (ELAN) for University College Utrecht students, located in Prague, Czechia. The Faculty of Arts is one of the original four faculties of Charles University, established in 1348 (together with the Faculties of Theology, Law, and Medicine), and currently offers 89 fields of study run by 46 departments and institutes. It is one of the largest and most important humanities institutions in the Czech Republic.
ELAN students can choose from the courses offered by any of the departments at the Faculty of Arts. Areas where we can most reliably offer teaching in English include:

Orientation | There is a mandatory registration day about which you will be contacted. The Erasmus Student Network (see more under ‘student life’) also organizes a welcome week which is similar to UCU’s introweek in terms of activities. Find out more here. |
Situation | The university is located in Prague, a city of 1,3 million inhabitants, and the capital of the Czech Republic. It is a popular tourist destination and has a large medieval center. Read more about the city here. |
Student life | Charles University has some 50,000 students. The university doesn’t have a central campus. Rather, its faculties are located throughout Prague. It has sports facilities that are available to students free of charge, including pools, tennis courts, fitness centers, etcetera. Charles University offers free psychological support and counselling to all students. The Erasmus Student Network Charles University chapter (ESN CU) organizes social, cultural, and sports events for international and Czech students. |
