Academic calendar

Semester I: generally begins the last week of February
Semester II: 3rd or 4th week of July

Requirements

Students must have completed a full year of credit at the time of application.

If you are selected to go to UWA, keep in mind that you will have to meet the English Language Requirements. You don’t have to worry about this until after you have been selected by UU. Non native speakers of English will need to provide an IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge test result. The University’s English Language Requirements will ONLY be waived if you have a Dutch VWO diploma with minimum grade 8: no exceptions will be made.

Areas of study open to exchange students

All areas open except for:

  • Medicine and dentistry

This changes often so it is best to ask.

Courses at Master’s level

Courses are available, except clinical units in Medicine, Dentistry and Psychology.

English (except for foreign language subjects)

Housing assistance

Student housing at the 5 colleges is in VERY high demand, and cannot be guaranteed. Apply early, even before you receive an offer of admission. The university runs a housing office.
