Academic calendar

The University of Chile is an institution with a high degree of decentralization, so semester dates may differ per faculty.

Semester I: Beginning of March - End of July

Semester II: Beginning of August - Mid-December

Orientation generally commences in the beginning of March for Semester I and at the end of July for Semester II.

Exams take place at the end of July for Semester I and in December for Semester II.

Requirements

Language Requirement

A B1 level of Spanish is required (B2 is highly recommended).

Upload this Language Proficiency Form signed by a Spanish teacher, your official language certificate (e.g. DELE) or proof of a confirmed test appointment reservation as part of your application to UU in Osiris (deadline December 1st).

Applications without one of these documents will not be considered.

If you upload proof of a confirmed test appointment: you must meet the required Spanish level at the time of nomination! 
Semester 1: Before March 31st – Semester 2: Before September 30th.

Limited courses in English are available at the Faculty of Economics and Business. If you decide to only follow English courses at this faculty, a language certificate is not necessary.

Housing assistance

Universidad de Chile doesn’t have student residences, but the program offers assistance with a data base of Chilean families for housing, and each accepted student has information about housing in their acceptance package.

The average cost of living per month (accommodations, food and transportation within Santiago) is about €720-900 EUR.
