Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) is an exchange destination for bachelor students of Utrecht University School of Law
Semester 1: September up to and including January
Semester 2: Mid January up to and including May
Language of instruction: Spanish (only some courses in English).
Most courses are taught in Spanish and although there are some courses available in English, you will have to be prepared to follow mainly Spanish courses. A whole study period solely in English is almost unfeasible. In any case, it is obligatory to matriculate a minimum of 25% of the student´s total credits in subjects that are taught in Spanish!
In addtion, if your level of Spanish is not sufficient, you might not be able to reach the minimum amount of ECTS for the Erasmus+ grant and or obtain sufficient credits. Utrecht University will check/monitor your level of Spanish.
Language requirement: minimum of B1, but preferably B2 language level CEFR in Spanish. The following certificates and documents are accepted:
- Spanish B1 or higher level official certificates
- Test results from the language service of the home university or a different language institute with at least a B1 level
- OLS online Course results with at least a B1 level and the commitment to enroll in the Spanish course upon arrival at UAM
The cost of living in Madrid is one of the highest of all cities in Spain. You will need between 500€ to 1000€ a month to cover basic costs (accommodation, food, electricity, heating, transport, etc.).
Normal study load per semester: 30 ECTS
