Academic calendar

Semester I: 3rd week of February – end of June
Semester II: 2nd week of July – 2nd week of November

Orientation week commences generally in the 3rd week of February for Semester I and in the 2nd or 3rd week of July for Semester II.

Exams take place in June for Semester I and in the first 3 weeks of November for Semester II.

Requirements

If you are selected to go to Monash keep in mind that you will have to meet academic & English Language Requirements.

Grade requirement
Monash requirement is UU 6.5 or above. Please note that you must meet this requirement at the moment of application at Utrecht University (1st of December).

Language requirement
The language requirement must be met at the moment of application at Monash Melbourne University. Language requirement. TOEFL test are now valid proof of English proficiency for Monash, provided the test was taken after May 5th of 2024.

Students enrolled in a fully English taught Bachelor or Master programme (for example UCU), can provide a letter attesting to the fact that their degree is taught and assessed entirely in English.

A final grade of 6 or higher in English language and literature on your Havo or VWO diploma - obtained no longer than five years ago -  also suffices as proof of English proficiency.

Housing on-campus is not guaranteed and difficult to get in to. Early application for housing is therefore necessary.

Estimated living costs per month

The average living costs while living on campus are around 2,000 AUD per month.

For a semester exchange including wanting to travel, a budget of 15000 euro on average is realistic, this is based on budgets of exchange students from 23-24 and 24-25 and includes UU tuition fees. 

Please be aware that the visa fee increased to around 1000 EUR.
