Requirements

Language requirement: a minimum language level of B1 (CEFR) in German is required.

The International Office (UU Humanities) recommends a B2 level at the moment of exchange in order to fully participate in the courses.

Incoming exchange students may choose as many courses outside the subject area as they want, as long as they receive permission for participation by the teaching professors in advance (which is usually the case).

The Centre for German as a Foreign language (Studiengebiet Deutsch als Fremdsprache) offers Erasmus students a 2-week German course before the semester starts. Nominated Erasmus students will receive information on the course in due time via email.

Housing assistance

A limited number of dorm rooms are reserved for exchange students.

Please note: There are waiting lists for the halls of residence because the places are not only cheap, but also very popular. We therefore recommend that you apply for a place in the halls of residence as early as possible.
