Hebrew University of Jerusalem is an exchange destination for bachelor and for master students from the Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance at Utrecht University.

The Rothberg International School (RIS), located on Mount Scopus campus, is an academic and administrative entity within the Hebrew University. RIS serves as a hub for numerous international programs, degrees and courses. RIS provides administrative and academic support for incoming undergraduate and graduate exchange students, including pre-arrival assistance and arrival services.

Areas of study open to exchange students

Course catalogue

Agreement with the School of Law and the Faculty of Social Sciences. However, exchange students can choose courses from all faculties, including Hebrew and Arabic courses during the semester. Participation in some courses though requires approval from the department in which the student wishes to study. Certain courses have prerequisites. (Note IEO: HUJI will inform you about it after application for HUJI)

First degree courses are BA level.
Advanced degree courses are MA and PhD level courses.

Application & language requirements

Application:

A recommendation letter from an academic is required for the application at Hebrew University (hence not for the first application at UU!). 

English proficiency requirements

  • a language proficiency letter can be issued by the International Exchange Office (IEO) - B2 level

Or

  • DAAD - only if signed and stamped by University Language Center
  • Cambridge English Exams, C1 level

Students who have completed degrees at universities in which the sole language of instruction is English are exempt from this requirement.

The minimum GPA requirement has been waived for UU students.

MA level courses

MA-level courses are available, however each request to participate in a MA/gruaduate level course will be handled individually. 
Advanced BA students can take MA courses upon approval of the academic advisor.

Information on visa requirements

All international students planning to study at the Rothberg International School must obtain a multiple-entry A/2 student visa through an Israeli embassy or consulate prior to arrival in Israel.  It is your responsibility to contact your nearest Israeli embassy or consulate and apply for the relevant visa in advance to your departure. Only an Israeli embassy or consulate can issue this visa.
