UU, me and the IPCC

''We are on a fast track to climate disaster,” said UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at an April 4 press conference announcing the release of the highly anticipated third and final installment of the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report.

Taking about seven years to compile and drawing from 18,000 scientific studies, the report was published in three sections over the last months. The first one dealt with the physical science underlying climate change, the second explored adaptation to climate change impacts, and the most recent one focused how we might mitigate further climate change and the possible measures that could help us.

Utrecht University wants to invite students, scientist and support staff to a specially organised event called UU, me and the IPCC on 17 May, from 15:30-17:00 hrs at the Pangea in the Koningsbergergebouw. Utrecht University researchers contributing to the report will walk us through the main conclusions of each section, what they mean for the Netherlands, and how Utrecht University, its students and researchers can contribute going forward. The event will moderated by Dr Jeroen Oomen, researcher at the Urban Futures Studio.

You can register for the event via this link.
