The Tackling real-world problems through Interdisciplinary Collaboration (TIC) course offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with societal partners and work on solutions that make a difference - sign up by November 22!

What is the TIC Course?

This 7.5 ECTs course, open to Bachelor’s (years 2 and 3), Master’s students, and professionals, allows participants to engage in interdisciplinary teamwork, solving real-world challenges related to Utrecht University’s strategic themes. Students and professionals from all backgrounds will collaborate with organizations like RIVM, Stichting Vluchteling, and Transitie Coalitie Voedsel to address urgent societal issues and design new solutions from diverse perspectives.

Strategic Themes and Challenges for 2025:

Each edition of the TIC course includes four thematic interdisciplinary challenges, each tied to one of Utrecht University’s strategic themes. Below are the themes for the 2025 edition:

  • Pathways to Sustainability →  Investing in the Future
  • Institutions for Open Societies → Humans on the Move
  • Dynamics of Youth →  Green Teens
  • Life Sciences → One Health/Future of Food

Students will collaborate with societal partners on challenges such as sustainable investments, youth engagement in environmental protection, combating antimicrobial resistance, advancing the protein transition, and addressing migration issues.

  • Who can apply: Open to 2nd and 3rd-year Bachelor’s students, Master’s students, and professionals from all faculties.
  • Study periods: Period 3, 2024-2025.
