Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz is an exchange destination for Utrecht University Bachelor and Master students of the faculty of Humanities in Mainz, Germany.
Semester I (Winter Term): approximately October – February
Semester II (Summer Term): approximately April – July
The Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz expect intermediate language proficiency in German equivalent to B1 since only a few departments offer courses in English.
Students can take Musicology courses at the Institute of Art History and Musicology. Also, students are allowed to take 50% of the courses or a maximum of 15 ECTS at other institutes within the university.

For a comfortable room not too far from the university, students can expect to pay a monthly rent of around € 300 to € 450.

Beside the first expenses on your arrival, you will need a certain sum every month (about € 700) for your everyday expenses during your stay in Mainz:
ca. € 300 dormitory rent
ca. € 70 health insurance (mandatory for students) and
ca. € 330 for food, clothing and other expenditures.
Normal study load per semester: 30 ECTS
