Requirements

The Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz expect intermediate language proficiency in German equivalent to B1 since only a few departments offer courses in English. 

 

Areas of study open to exchange students

Students can take Musicology courses at the Institute of Art History and Musicology. Also, students are allowed to take 50% of the courses or a maximum of 15 ECTS at other institutes within the university.

For a comfortable room not too far from the university, students can expect to pay a monthly rent of around € 300 to € 450.

Beside the first expenses on your arrival, you will need a certain sum every month (about € 700) for your everyday expenses during your stay in Mainz:
