Language requirement: a minimum language level of B2 (CEFR) in English is required.

Areas of study open to exchange students

Students can take courses at the 'School of Linguistics and English Language', which means that courses can be taken in English Studies, French Studies, German Studies, Italian Studies, Literature, and Linguistics. 

Students can request a combination of modules from the 'School of Modern Languages and cultures', 'School of English Literature', and 'School of Linguistics and English Language'. Only 10 Bangor credits are allowed outside the courses at the 'School of Linguistics and English Language'. It is not possible to participate in field trips.

This information may change. It is meant to be an indication. Costs may differ due to personal circumstances.

The cost of living is lower than in larger city universities. Accommodation costs are much lower and with no need to pay for public transport students can save up to 50% on living costs. Bangor is ranked amongst the top 4 University cities in the UK in terms of cost of living (accommodation, food etc).  


Normal study load per semester: 60 credits (10 credits is comparable to 5 ECTS).

Number of places available

2 places per year. One in autumn, one in spring.

Additional information

Bangor is situated on the North Wales coast, close to major cities like London (3.5 hrs), Manchester (1.5 hrs) and Liverpool (1.5 hrs).
