Global Health 2: A virtual international collaboration

Registration for the next edition of this course opens July 1^st,, 2025. Registration occurs via google forms and the link will be added to this website and shared via the Global Health UMC Utrecht linked-in page. Selected spaces are reserved for students from UMC Utrecht/Utrecht University and Anton de Kom Universiteit van Suriname. Course team

The course is completed when if you have (a) an attendance of at least 80% (with explained absences), (b) completed the final group presentation, and (c) completed the course evaluation. Once you have passed the course requirements, you will receive a course certificate via email.   

Through this course, students explore the core themes of global health from both Surinamese and Dutch perspectives. To do so, the lectures will provide deep-dive examples covering the ‘Core Global Health Competences’ presented by Walpole et al (2016), as seen below. The topics covered across these overlapping themes can vary per year depending on the guest lecturers involved. Previous session topics have included:

• One health versus planetary health
• Equitable partnerships for global health research and education
• Epidemiology of heart failure
• Global health activism
• Rehabilitation programs and child health
