Application

You can only take part in the exchange programme after you have been nominated by your home university and your home university holds a Faculty Exchange Agreement.

Deadline for Fall semester clinical rotations:

Nomination deadline: 15 March (start from September)

Application deadline for student: 15 April

Deadline for Spring semester clinical rotations:

Nomination deadline: first of September (Start from February)

Application deadline for student: 15 September

Deadline for Summer clinical rotations

Nomination deadline: 7 December

Application deadline for student: 15 January (Start in June till August)

Once nominated by your home university we will get in contact with you. Clinical rotations for the companion animal clinic can start  throughout a semester. In general they will last 10 weeks (exemption for University of Chiang Mai students and UC Davis students).

Clinical rotations at the equine clinic will always start with the so called ‘Voorweek’ a pre-clinical week, or several days, that all students new to the clinic have to follow. The dates are fixed, please get in touch with the International Office for the specific dates. 

Schedule of your clinical rotations

Your application is formal when you have filled in the FormDesk form we will sent to you after you got nominated by your home university. Next to general information we will ask for the specific period you will come and the clinics you want to do your rotations at. 

You will get a personalized detailed schedule approximately four weeks for your start. Days at the Equine clinic generally start at 7.30h and end at 16.30h. At the Companion Animal clinic your day will, generally, start at 8.00h and end at 16.30h. 

Depending on your requested clinical rotations and the number of students in certain clinics it will be possible you will have to follow night shifts or weekend shifts.

Digital check-in

Around two to three weeks before you start we will plan a digital check-in with you. During this moment that will take around half an hour we will give you more specific information about your stay and will be able to answer all kind of questions, from staying in the Netherlands to what to wear or how to get to the clinics.

ProVet

Our patient registration system is called ProVet. Each incoming international exchange student will get access to this system after signing a confidentiality agreement. Please note that a lot of information registered in ProVet will be in Dutch.

Campus card

During your first day you have to pick up your campus card at the Androclus building, Yalelaan 1. Your campus card will give you access to our clinics. Please always have it on you. 

Work permit

When you are a non EU/EER residence coming to Utrecht to follow clinical rotations at our Veterinary faculty you will need a work permit. The International Office of Veterinary Medicine will request this at the government agency UWV. Please be aware of the time and energy this process will cost.

Housing

Please note that finding housing in the Utrecht area is difficult. Start in advance and please read the information at our websites.
