In order to facilitate our education and research, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has three university clinics: the Companion Animals Clinic, the Equine Clinic and the Farm Animals Clinic. These clinics provide patient care for a variety of animal species (on referral from a veterinarian), while educating veterinary students. The Equine Clinic and the Farm Animals Clinic also have an ambulatory section that can provide treatment to patients on location.
All three clinics are being or are scheduled to be renovated in order to raise the level of infrastructure and patient care facilities to a higher level. The patient care provided by our clinics are at least comparable to that provided by human clinics in the range and quality of care provided. Together, these three clinics make up the largest animal hospital outside of the United States.
Participation in the clinical rotation programme is limited to students from institutions the faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Utrecht University has a student exchange agreement with. When there is a partner agreement between our faculty and yours it is possible to apply for a clinical rotation. For more information about the application procedure please contact the International Office of your home university.
Students with a non-EER nationality will need a work permit (Te Werkstellingsverklaring) to be able to follow clinical rotations. The International Office of Veterinary Medicine will guide you through this process. Collecting the right documentation will take around a month, submitting the request and receiving the work permit will take around 6 weeks. So please be aware of a process close to three months.
Please note that the work permit is not automatically combined with a visa. For any questions please contact the International Office via email; international.office.vet@uu.nl
