Honours programmes offer diverse skills, closer connections with professors and external networks, and a motivated community. Their extracurricular nature allows for more experimental approaches to education and opportunities you won’t find in your regular programme.

Each honours programme offers something unique—visit the respective programme page and check the “What does [programme name] offer me?” section at the bottom to learn more.

Most honours programmes are free, though some small costs, like food during excursions, may come up. If you're a first-generation student and the time commitment of participating in an honours programme affects your income, you can apply for the Honours Study Grant. Learn more about the grant here.

Exception: Our two summer schools, NAHSS and Regenerative Cities have participation fees. 

After completing a university-wide honours programme, you'll earn an honours certificate and extracurricular honours EC's, which appear on your diploma. These EC's do not count toward your degree requirements.

Exception: UCU and UCR students may request their Board of Examiners to count an honours programme as an "off-campus course" toward their 180 EC's, but approval is not guaranteed.

Yes, you can apply to multiple honours programmes at once. If you receive multiple offers for programmes that last one academic year, then you will have to choose one. 

Some of our programmes only last one semester, in this case, it is possible to take two honours programmes in the same year, provided they occur in different semesters.
