Da Vinci Project

You can participate in the Da Vinci Project if you are in the second or third year of your Bachelor’s programme or doing a Pre-Master’s programme. During the sessions and preparations, we expect a pro-active, curious and committed attitude. Since this programme runs alongside your Bachelor's and takes place in the evenings, it's important to consider the following:

• Am I motivated?
• What can I contribute to the group?
• Can I manage the workload alongside my studies?
• Am I open to learning from and with students from different disciplines?
• Can I balance the programme with my work, sports, or social life?

1. Record a video pitch in English. Make a video pitch (max. 3 minutes) in which you: Explain why you want to be part of the Da Vinci Project and collaborate with peers on a real prototype.
Suggest a possible solution that can help achieve (one of) the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Name your pitch: Last Name-First Name-DaVinci-Pitch, for example: Jansen-Maria-DaVinci-Pitch. Upload your video in Google Drive or Dropbox. In the application form, you will be asked to share the link to your video pitch.

2. CV in English (max. 2 A4): Include a short description of your academic performance so far, extra-curricular activities and other valuable skills or life experiences. Also indicate your level of English.

3. Study progress overview: Because we want to assemble a diverse group of students from different academic backgrounds, we look at which courses you have taken and how your study progress is going. This is how you download a study progress overview:

During the Da Vinci project, our group developed a more sustainable solution for the large-scale disposal of counterfeit textiles, which are traditionally incinerated or sent to landfills. Together, we transformed these discarded textiles into a versatile, durable, and sustainable circular fabric: CounterFelt. 

What I loved most about this project was the opportunity to think creatively and collaborate with a diverse team. I developed skills that I don’t often use in my own program, like design thinking and creative problem-solving. The project allowed me to apply my creativity by designing our brand’s logo and animating a promotional video. Its been an incredible learning experience.
