A great share of social activities on campus is made possible by the different committees of the University College Student Association (UCSA). You can find out more about them on the UCSA website.
The College Bar is run by the Bar Committee and relies on volunteering students. It is accessible to all UCSA members. Opening hours of the bar are 22:00 – 02:00. Smoking is not permitted. Students are required to register off-campus guests with the bar and take responsibility for their guests while they are on campus.
Sports on campus
The campus has a small gym run by the Gym Committee. Students can only make use of the gym after a compulsory introduction and after signing a liability waiver.
There is also a sports court located on campus, on which for instance soccer and tennis can be played. Next to the sports court there is a volleyball court and basketball court.
The UCSA's Sports Committee organises practices for several sports on and off-campus. Students can find out more about these practices during introduction week.
The UCSA also has several committees involved with cultural activities, such as DramaCo, DanceCo, ArtsCo and FocusCo. Students will be introduced to all different committees during introduction week.
Sports Centre Olympos on Utrecht Science Park, has several football fields, a rugby pitch, hockey fields, a golf practice course, outdoor tennis courts, squash courts, a fitness room, and 3 sports halls including basketball courts. Cultural activities such as dance classes and music lessons are organized by Parnassos. Students can get a discount with their student card.
Students under 26 can also buy a CJP – a cultural discount pass for theaters, museums, etc. It is valid in all of Europe and costs around €15. The information is in Dutch, but is easy to follow. You can order the pass at the CJP website or at the tourist information center – Domplein 9, Utrecht.
You can also purchase an International Student Identity Card which offers discounts for travel and stores.
