Pre-registration deadlines for continuing students generally fall at the end of the third week after the UCU midterm break (class week 10).
To distribute places, UCU uses pre- determined priority categories (see section “general priority considerations. Pre-registered students in the highest priority categories are placed during the preregistration round; space permitting, remaining places are allocated via a lottery among the students in the next highest priority categories.
Pre-registered students for whom places cannot be confirmed on the basis of their priority category at this time have to file waiting list requests for the following placement round.
A percentage of places are reserved in every course (about 30% of total course places). When registration is finalized before the term (semester or summer term) begins, the reserved spots are distributed by priority categories, as in the initial pre-registration round; a lottery is used whenever there are fewer available spaces than requests by students in the same priority category.
Continuing students who failed to pre-register by the pre-registration deadline are accommodated as possible from the reserved places in the final registration round via the general waiting list.
