Thesis

For Fall 2025 thesis writers: you have received an email with a link to the thesis proposal form. Submission deadline: 15 September 2025. 

For Spring/Summer 2026 thesis writers: Please complete the "thesis intention declaration" to indicate your desired thesis field and topic and, if you want to, a preference for a potential supervisor. A thesis information session will be held on 23 September 2025, 4-5 PM (Dining Hall main)

For the Fall 2025 thesis: You will be enrolled in the relevant thesis track following approval of your thesis proposal. 

For the Spring/Summer 2026 thesis: You must enrol for your specific thesis track (for the 15 ECTS research thesis) via the course pre-enrolment module.  

Keep in mind that if you are not going to complete your thesis within one semester (i.e. Fall-Spring thesis or Spring-Summer thesis), you may need to submit a “Non-standard UCU credit load” via Osiris Case to be able to be enrolled for the thesis and three courses (15 + 22,5 = 37,5 ECTS).

Fellows sees to it that all thesis writers have the information needed to secure a supervisor and that supervisors are informed of UCU procedures and grading criteria. You set up a meeting with the supervisor as soon as you have one.

You prepare a (preliminary) thesis proposal according to practices relevant for your thesis track/discipline, with input from your supervisor. This can be submitted following instructions from your thesis fellow. 

The supervisor and fellow approve the proposal or advise you on necessary changes. The Fellow makes sure that second readers are found and informed about UCU procedures and grading criteria before the hand-in deadline. 

You submit the final version of your thesis both via Osiris Case and you send it to your supervisor and your second reader per the instructions of your track fellow.

Lab Work: For SCIENCE theses that include lab work a pre-determined date no later than 12 August.

Failure to meet the submission deadline will delay your graduation. 

You will receive a notification from Osiris that your thesis is graded. The Fellow has processed an originality (plagiarism) check and assessment sheets of supervisor and second reader and uploaded those in Osiris.
