The Biomedical oriented Science major at UCU (labelled as “pre-med programme”) will enable you to apply for selected Medical Masters programs in the Netherlands.

Students who wish to study Medicine or apply for a programme in a related field (like Biomedical Science) after University College Utrecht must take certain courses in Life Science, Biomedical Science and Chemistry. This list of courses is indicated as the (Pre-)Medical Science track. (Pre-)Medical Science is not a separate degree or status; rather it can serve as a requirement for a future in Medicine.

The Biomedical oriented Science major at UCU (labelled as “pre-med track”) will enable you to apply for selected Medical Masters programs in the Netherlands. Examples are the Selective Utrecht Medical Master (SUMMA) program at the University Medical Centre in Utrecht (see below) and other so-called pre-master (zij-instroom) Medical Master programs in e.g. Leiden, Amsterdam, Nijmegen, Groningen or a selective research master (Arts-Klinisch Onderzoeker) in Maastricht (see overview below).

With a completed (Pre-)Medical Science track you may for example apply to SUMMA, Utrecht University’s medical Master. Although access to this programme cannot be guaranteed, a large percentage of SUMMA students are University College Utrecht graduates.
