The Netherlands-Asia Honours Summer School (NAHSS) is a national honours program intended for undergraduate second- and third-year students who are fluent in Dutch and aim to experience China. The program consists of a consultancy project and a summer school, and provides students with knowledge on China, in terms of academics, business, and culture. It starts in March and ends in September. During this period students are expected to work about 10 hours per week on their NAHSS consultancy project and NAHSS-related activities.

For the academic part, the NAHSS provides interactive lectures from China experts, and students study several case studies related to Sino-Dutch relations. Regarding the business aspect, students execute a consultancy project for a Chinese or Dutch company (e.g., Huawei or ING) or ministry (e.g., Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management). Students also participate in inhouse days, in which they will visit various organizations. Finally, the NAHSS organizes a Chinese language and culture course at beginners level, and related cultural activities.

Upon successful completion of this program, students will receive a certificate at the closing ceremony at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hague. UCU will then grant 5EC. The 5EC cannot be used towards the 180EC needed for graduation but counts as a curriculum enrichment option.

Note this program is only open to undergraduate students who are fluent in Dutch! More information about the selection and application of the NAHSS can be found on the following website:
