Second degree teaching qualification
If you have already obtained a second degree in teaching in the same school subject elsewhere you will receive exemptions for 30 EC in total (Professional in Praktijk 1a + 1b, Pedagogiek 1 and Vakdidactiek 1). As a result, your programme lasts only a year and a half instead of two years, and always begins in August or September.

Year 1, period 1 and 2
In period 1 and 2 you will take courses about educational design, methods relevant for performing research in educational contexts, issues and theories relevant for science and mathematics education, and science communication with a general public. In addition, you will take two elective courses.
Year 1, period 3 and 4
In period 3 and 4, you will develop your professional competencies as a first-degree teacher and deepen your professional didactic and pedagogical knowledge. During your internships, part of Professional in Practice 2, you will immediately put everything you learn into practice.
Year 2, period 1 and 2
The second year is devoted to the research project (30 EC). In the research project, you will use the knowledge you acquired in the programme to investigate new issues. A required part of the Research Project are the accompanying student seminars, which will be held biweekly on Tuesdays 9:00 – 11:00 AM.
