Students of the Teacher Degree track and students with a second degree qualification

For a total of 15 EC, you have to choose 5 to 10 EC from pedagogical-didactical electives (Dutch: pedagogisch-didactische keuzecursussen), and 5 to 10 EC from general electives (Dutch: overige keuzecursussen).

You can choose electives from the list below but also from a wider range of Master's courses, provided they align with the SEC programme's learning goals and offer sufficient depth and coherence (see Education and Examination Regulations, appendix).

Students are encouraged to explore other courses offered by Utrecht University as electives, particularly those focused on subject related disciplines. Their tutors will guide them in this exploration.

Period 2	History and Philosophy of Science for SEC - 5 EC Investigative Journalism - 7.5 EC Socio-Scientific Inquiry-Based Learning (SSIBL) - 2.5 EC Tackling real-world problems through Interdisciplinary Collaboration – 7.5 EC (may not be taken if it was also part of your Bachelor’s programme)
Period 3	Innovation in Science and Mathematics Education: Lessons from the Past - 2.5 EC Science and the Public - 7.5 EC Environmental Education and Communication – 5 EC Science Communication Foundations - 2.5 EC

You need to choose electives for a total of 25 EC.
