The SEC programme has two specialization tracks. The track Research and Development teaches you all about science communication and education without the final aim of becoming a teacher in secondary education. The track Teacher Degree will prepare you for a job as a first-degree science and/or mathematics teacher.

Track Teacher Degree
Year 1 (semester 3-4)
In the first year you will take a course in general teaching methodology, an elective and a course dealing with science communication. In addition, you will start practicing your teaching in a school internship.
Year 2
In the second year, you will take two courses in subject teaching methodology, and a second course in general teaching methodology. Other courses deal with teaching design, issues & theories, and research methods. In addition, you will enter the field of research through the courses Research Methods and Research Proposal. You will also continue to practice your teaching during a school internship.
Year 3 (semester 1-2)
The third year focused on the research project, in which you use the knowledge gained in the programme to investigate new issues. A mandatory part of the research project are the supervised student seminars, held biweekly.
Track Research and Development
Year 1 (semester 3-4)
In the first year, you do the Product Development internship at an organization related to science communication. In addition, you will take two compulsory courses.
Year 2
In the second year, you do the Product Evaluation and Advice internship. In addition, you will enter the field of research through the courses Research Methods and Research Proposal, and start your Research Project in period 3-4. You will also take several electives and compulsory courses.
Year 3 (semester 1-2)
The third year is focused on the research project, in which you use the knowledge gained in the programme to investigate new issues. A mandatory part of the research project are the supervised student seminars, held biweekly.
