Questions and answers

Are the Startweek stage/baan, Startdag and the Opening Session mandatory?

The Startweek stage/baan, Startdag and the Opening Session do indeed constitute a mandatory part of your Master’s programme. The first lectures and tutorials of the programme take place during the Startweek stage/baan, the Startdag,or the Opening Session. For SEC R&D only the SEC-specific introduction activities are mandatory.

Do I have to register for the Startweek stage/baan, Startdag or the Opening Session?

No, you are automatically registered for the Startweek stage/baan, Startdag and/or the Opening Session.

I have not yet received a password for OSIRIS or a student number. What do I do?

First check whether you have paid your tuition fees. Contact Student Services if you have not received your password one week before the introduction period commences.

I have not received any information about the Startweek stage/baan, Startdag and/or the Opening Session. What do I do?

Don’t worry, all the information you need can be found in the introduction letters on this site (see the Introduction activities page and Voorbereiding page on the Dutch website). Please also contact us via intro.gst@uu.nl, so we can check if something went wrong.

I have lost my e-mail about the Startweek stage/baan, Startdag and/or the Opening Session. What do I do?

No problem. All the information you need can be found in the introduction letters on this site (see the Introduction activities page and Voorbereiding page on the Dutch website).

Are there expenses involved with the Startweek stage/baan, Startdag and/or the Opening Session?

You do not have to pay a registration fee. Food and drinks during the Startweek stage/baan, Startdag and the Opening Session are at your own expense.

I intend to follow an educational minor. Is the Startweek stage/baan intended for me?

Yes, the Startweek is intended for all students who are starting a full-time or part-time taecher training programme at the Graduate School of Teaching, including minor, EP and Educatieve module students.

I have already studied at Utrecht University. Do I have to attend the Startweek stage/baan or Startdag anyway?

The first courses begin during the Startweek and Startdag. This is also when you get to meet your fellow students. Your presence is therefore mandatory.

What if I am ill during any of the introduction activities?

If you are ill during the Startweek, Startdag , GST Opening Session or any of the other activities, report this via email to the Intro GST team (intro.gst@uu.nl). Always include your name and student number when contacting us.

I am doing the in-service variant of the programme (track Teacher Degree). What if I have to work at my school during the Intro GST?

It is very important that you do everything you can to be able to attend all activities (attendance is mandatory), so please try to talk about this with your supervisors at school. Hopefully you can come to an agreement. If you cannot get the full introduction off work, please contact us. We will then determine whether alternative assignments are possible and/or necessary to make up for missed sessions.

I have not yet received a definite letter of acceptance for the Master’s programme. What do I do?

You will not receive a final letter of acceptance until you have met all admission requirements. In the conditional letter of acceptance, you will find the conditions you need to have met before the start of the programme. If you have any questions, send an email to mastertoelating.gst@uu.nl.

When will I be registered for courses?

Apart from those enrolled for the educational minor, Educational Profile 2 (EP2) and Educatieve module, all students at the Graduate School of Teaching will receive a link to an online course registration form from gst@uu.nl. These forms will be processed before the start of the programme. Once your course registration has been fully processed, the courses you’re registered for will become visible in OSIRIS Student.

If you are a Master’s or Educational Profile 1 (EP1) student and have not received or filled in a course registration form, please send an email to gst@uu.nl as soon as possible. Educational minor, Educational profile 2 (EP2) and Educatieve module students are registered automatically by us and therefore do not receive a registration form.
