BlackBoard, UU's current Learning Management System (LMS), will be replaced by Brightspace. A small proportion of courses will be taught on this new LMS from September 2024. From September 2025, all teaching will take place on Brightspace. You can read what this means for you on this page.

From Blackboard to Brightspace

After a careful process of European tendering, supplier D2L has been awarded the contract to deliver UU's Learning Management System. Their system Brightspace is a modern and user-friendly LMS that is an excellent fit for UU education.

What do you notice about this?

A new LMS means getting used to new functionalities and a different layout. Yet switching to Brightspace also has many advantages for you. Brightspace works in a clear and structured way and has various functionalities for creating interactive content and activating work forms. Brightspace's app and mobile website also came out of the tender as plus points. In consultation with the faculties, the project team provides proper training, guidance and support to make the transition from BlackBoard to Brightspace as smooth as possible.
