Meditation is not an escape, it is the courage to face reality with full attention. - Thich Nhat Hanh

Zen meditation is all about simply sitting and observing, without reacting to thoughts or stimuli. This can be challenging at first, but offers a chance to step out of your comfort zone and be fully present. With regular practice, you can develop more calmness and focus. In this four-session course, you will practise sitting and walking meditation in a Zen way. Throughout the course, we gradually build up the time in silence from 10 to 25 minutes, and you are encouraged to also practise at home to build a routine. You will also learn how to apply Zen Buddhist principles in everyday life.

After this training

  • You will have experience with Zen meditation and know how to build a routine.
  • Develop greater calmness and focus through regular practice.
  • Learn how to apply meditation principles in daily life.
  • Deepen your understanding of Zen Buddhist insights.

For whom

All UU students and (recent) graduates, and PhD students from all Graduate Schools.

Note: Given that this training is also open to PhD students, there is a small chance that you, as a student, will meet a lecturer during this training.
