Recognised UU student organisations can also contact us to discuss the possibilities.

What and why?

In the busy student life, the topic of wellbeing is - thankfully - getting more and more attention. UU is committed to offering space within the environment of associations to work on this topic in an approachable way as well. By facilitating (one of) the workshops below, associations show their commitment to the well-being of their members and provide them with valuable knowledge and skills. The workshops we offer focus mainly on practical practice and experience of healthy habits. They can strengthen the bond between members (and board). In the sessions, there is always room for humour and for participants' questions and initiative.

Student Well-being subsidy

Utrecht University likes to stimulate activities around student well-being organised for and by UU students. Therefore, a budget has been made available for activities and/or events around student well-being that do not take place annually and are organised by UU students. Find more information about the student well-being subsidy via the Bestuurlijk Actief website.

For members

Mindfulness: an introduction (1-2 hours)

This workshop will give you insight into how to slow down and be more mindfully present in the here and now. Mindfulness is a proven method that helps to increase your resilience, reduce stress symptoms, deal with the crowds and impressions around you. In this workshop, you will learn more about the background of mindfulness and do some exercises together.

Making choices (1-2 hours)

In our world of many options, it can be difficult to decide what you want. In this workshop, you will gain insights and skills to make choices with more confidence. These can be choices in your daily life, but also for your studies, career and life. We will discuss the process of choosing and you will learn how to find out what is important to you. Suffering from choice stress? In the workshop, we look at where this comes from and give you tools to deal with it.

Autonomy and communication (2 hours)

Communication is often most enjoyable and effective when it is equal. With the premise that each is capable of thinking and acting for themselves. Unfortunately, we often do not communicate this way. There may be unconscious patterns at play that make us feel superior or inferior. In this training we use a concept from Transactional Analysis to clarify this. We practice talking to each other more consciously and equally. It is an upbeat training that can give a lot of insight into your relationships with others...and also with yourself.

Stress & Energy (2 hours)

This workshop will give you insight into how stress and energy (work) together. We look at how you can recognise your own stress signals, at what draws energy from you, how to recharge your energy and lower your stress levels. We cover theory, do exercises and reflect individually and with the group. After attending the workshop, you will have tools to get a better grip on your stress and energy levels.

Connection through Deep Listening (2 hours)

The hustle and bustle of everyday life often prevent us from listening carefully. Are you really hearing what someone is saying? With deep listening, we engage our body and attention completely to connect on another level. Listening in this way is valuable and beneficial for both yourself and the other person. In the workshop, you will learn some steps that can help to listen in this way. It can strengthen the bond between members of an association in a surprising way.

Exploring life themes ( 2 hours)

Life as a student usually involves a lot: breaking free from your parental home, finding your way in student life, entering into relationships, discovering your identity and focusing on a future. In this workshop, you will work with a number of life themes or questions according to a specific discussion model. You examine what is going on in your life and discuss it with (a number of) members of your association. A workshop that offers a great opportunity to get to know each other and yourself better.

Tailor-made workshop (1-2 hours)

If required, we also offer tailor-made workshops. For example, on finding your direction with Ikigai, or on exploring life questions. Contact us to discuss your needs and wishes in this regard.

Active Bystander | Social Safety

In the Active bystander workshop, you will be given tools within an hour to know how to recognise undesirable behaviour and what you can do to address it. That way, you will never again find yourself at a loss for words when you see someone doing something you really don't think is OK, but are unsure whether to intervene. .

Would you like to organise an Active Bystander or other workshop on social safety for your course, study or student association? Then contact social safety project manager Robin Smeets at socialeveiligheid@uu.nl
