Meditation is not an escape, it is the courage to face reality with full attention. - Thich Nhat Hanh

Doing research or studying demands a lot of your attention, energy, and emotions. For many, this plays out in a life with a packed schedule. In this four-part training, you'll learn how meditation can help you be more present with calmness and kindness - whether you're facing stress or performance pressure, but also joy or connection.

We'll practice simple meditation techniques to help you ground yourself in your body, breath, and the present moment. You'll discover how to apply meditation in everyday situations, such as work, studying, relaxing and interaction with others. The training is open to both beginners and experiences practitioners, guiding you a step by step in building a regular, daily meditation practice that fits your life. During the sessions there will be room to share experiences.

Meditation can be a life changer, but it needs endurance. During this course you can discover the benefits of meditating in a group. This experience can make it easier to meditate individually. Apart from the sessions, we'll ask you to practice at home as well.

After this training

  • You will have experience with different meditation exercises and know how to build a routine.
  • Develop greater calmness and focus through regular practice.
  • Learn how to apply meditation principles in daily life.

For whom

All UU students and (recent) graduates, and PhD students from all Graduate Schools.

Note: Given that this training is also open to PhD students, there is a small chance that you, as a student, will meet a lecturer during this training.
