Study delay

There are various circumstances that may cause you to fall behind in your studies. Study delays can have unpleasant consequences. Therefore, always get in touch with your study advisor. In certain situations, you may be eligible for financial support.

Reasons for study delays

  • Disability For example, dyslexia, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), diabetes, Crohn’s disease, or persistent depressive disorder.
  • Illness If you have undergone surgery, a short-term treatment, glandular fever, or mental health issues.
  • Family circumstances If you are a carer or if a family member is ill or passes away.
  • Gender transition If you are undergoing a gender transition and require treatments or surgeries.
  • Pregnancy Delays due to pregnancy or impending parenthood.
  • Waiting times If there are long waiting times for placements or internships, a course may be considered ‘insufficiently feasible’ as a result.
