Thinking and Doing Differently, Feeling Better – A Training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) (Dutch only)

This group training is open to all Dutch-speaking students at Utrecht University (UU) or University of Humanistic Studies (UvH) who recognize themselves in the description below:

Do you often feel stressed, worry a lot, or tend to expect the worst? Do you notice that negative thoughts, fear, or insecurity sometimes hold you back from doing what you actually want? Then this course might be for you.

Negative thinking can keep you stuck in feelings of sadness or tension, and make it harder to act the way you'd like to. In this course, you'll learn how to recognize and break through these patterns of thinking and behaviour, so you can feel better and act with more confidence.

This training is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT is founded on the idea that your thoughts, feelings, and behaviour are closely connected. Negative thoughts can influence your mood and actions, creating a vicious cycle.

In this training, you will learn to

  • Gain more insight into where your complaints and patterns come from,
  • Recognize and challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts,
  • Develop new, more helpful ways of thinking and acting, and
  • Regulate your emotions in a more supportive way.

Because CBT works best when you take an active approach, we ask you to participate actively during the sessions and to practise between meetings. You’ll work with new skills, monitor changes in your thoughts and behaviour, and apply what you learn in your daily life.

After completing the course, you’ll have a better understanding of yourself, more awareness of where your thinking patterns come from, and practical tools to maintain your new skills.
