Own your life - A training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (Dutch only)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or ACT for short, offers an approach to building mental resilience and improving your well-being during your student life. You can think of it as a form of yoga for your brain: it helps you deal with challenges more flexibly, become more emotionally balanced and make conscious choices that align with your values.
This training focuses on the question, "How can I live a valuable life despite setbacks?"
You will experience how it is to no longer see painful emotions as unwelcome disruptors of your happiness, but as valuable sources of information (acceptance).
And by exploring what your values are and how you can apply them in daily practice, you work step by step towards a life that fits who you are (commitment).
What participating can bring you:
- Stress management: ACT can help you better manage stress, which is essential during exams and busy study periods.
- Improved focus: Mindfulness exercises can help train your mind to focus on the task or the moment.
- Self-awareness: By emphasizing self-reflection and acceptance, you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself, which can contribute to personal growth.
- Effective Communication: ACT can help you communicate more consciously and build better relationships with others.
- Purposeful Action: Learning to identify and pursue your values can help you work more intentionally and make decisions that align with your long-term goals.
- Greater Satisfaction: By applying the principles of ACT, you can gain greater satisfaction from your studies and personal life.

- Yoga for your brain (Introduction to ACT)
- Your emotions as an ally (Acceptance)
