Academic calendar

Semester I: 1st week of September – last week of January
Semester II: 1st week of February – 1st week of July

Orientation generally commences the 1st week of September for Semester I and the 1st week of February for Semester II.

Exams take place in January for Semester I and in June for Semester II.

Housing assistance

University of Latvia offers two student hotels for International students: “Prima” and ”Reznas” student hotel.  There is a well-developed public transportation and it takes about 20 minutes to reach the city centre, main building of the University of Latvia as well as the Old Town.

Average living costs per month are around €450-€750, depending on your lifestyle.

1 Latvian credit poing = 1.5 ECTS. Most courses are worth 6 EC so you need 5 courses in order to obtain 30 EC.
