Credit system | Normally 1 Tsinghua credit = 1.5 EC. A full semester workload of 30 EC is 20 credits at Tsinghua University, which is the equivalent of 5 – 8 courses. For most up to date information on the conversion, please see the credit conversion table |
Grade System | Tsinghua University uses the same letter grade system used at UCU. |
Housing | On-campus accommodation is available for exchange students, but there is also the possibility to find accommodation elsewhere in Beijing. There are more than 10 student dining halls on campus, as well as several fast food restaurants and cafés. You can find more information here. |

Orientation | The week before the semester begins, there is an orientation programme, about which you will receive more information when you are accepted at Tsinghua. There is also a Buddy Program available which matches you to a local student. |
Student life | Tsinghua University has over 50.000 students of which 16.000 are Bachelor students. Of those, some 1200 are internationals. Tsinghua’s campus is roughly 5 square kilometers in size (three times larger than the center of Utrecht) and has won prizes for its beauty. It is located about half an hour by car from the historic city center. There are over 250 student organizations on campus engaged in sports, arts, science, etcetera. It also has extensive sports facilities and many sports events. |
Situation | Tsinghua University is located in Beijing, the capital of China. This city of 20 million inhabitants has many historical sights and modern districts. Beijing has cold but sunny winters and warm but rainy summers. |
