NL Scholarship

The NL Scholarship is for students of Utrecht University who are going to non-EEA (non-Erasmus, or SEMP for Switzerland) partner destinations and meet the scholarship conditions (SEMP is primarily intended for study, applying for an internship may be quite challenging). Remaining scholarships will be raffled among this group of students.

The scholarship consists of a one-time amount of € 2,500 and is a contribution to your study costs.

Conditions

  • You are enrolled as a full-time bachelor or master student at Utrecht University.
  • Your will go to one of the above-mentioned partner destinations in the academic year 2025-2026 for a minimum duration of 7 weeks and will earn you a minimum of 10 ECTS.
  • Your study, internship or research will not take place in your home country.
  • You have (almost) no study delay.
  • The courses you follow abroad will count towards your bachelor’s- or master’s programme (this means your study programme should have at least 22,5 ECTS free elective space, so the courses can be incorporated in the curriculum or that your internship/research is approved and registered in Osiris).
  • Your average study progress is 52,5 ECTS per year. The International Office will check this on April 1st, 2025. Grades for block 3 and 4 (2025) will not be included in the calculation.
  • If you are planning an exchange or internship in Semester 1, your stay abroad should last until at least November 1st.
  • You have an approved ‘Abroad’ process in Osiris for an internship or research or for an exchange.

How to Apply

The content of the paragraph below is preliminary and will only become confirmed after we have received a commitment from OCW (end of December / beginning of January).

Students who have been selected for an eligible exchange destination will be informed via e-mail in the week of March 2nd with instructions on when and how to apply in Osiris. Students that are going abroad for research or an apprenticeship will only be included in the selection if they have an approved stay abroad for a suitable timeframe registered in Osiris. The deadline to apply for the NL Scholarship 2025-2026 will be on March 29th, 2026 at 23.59. All applications that are submitted on time will then be reviewed and the result will be shared at the end of April / beginning of May.
