Like all Dutch universities, Utrecht University does not own any student accommodation. We do have a Reserved Accommodation Programme for Exchange students and new international non-Dutch students who enrol in the first year of an English taught degree programme.
The accommodation in the Reserved Accommodation Programme is limited and very popular. Even though the number of rooms may seem vast, do not underestimate the run for housing! Accommodation via this programme is not guaranteed and is rented out on a first come, first served basis. If you are a degree student also note that the Reserved Accommodation Programme is only available for the first year of studies.
Who can apply
- Erasmus and Exchange students
- International degree seeking first year students (bachelor’s and master’s) who enrol in an English taught degree programme
- Students who have a non-Dutch nationality and who do not yet live in the Netherlands.
- There is no age restriction for the Reserved Accommodation Programme
How to apply
For the Spring 2018 semester the Utrecht University Reserved Accommodation Programme has an arrangement with the student housing organisation SSH. If you are eligible for the Reserved accommodation programme you can register with SSH Short Stay accommodation. Read more on SSH Short stay.
It is recommended to register with SSH Short Stay even if you prefer to look for accommodation on your own. Through your registration with SSH Short Stay, we can keep you informed if any new accommodation is added or if accommodation becomes available due to a cancellation. Registration is free of charge. Only when you submit a reservation, you pay a reservation fee of 75 euros.
Other ways to find accommodation
