Student wellbeing
Everything we offer on Student Wellbeing within the Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Science is organizing a social event specifically for international students. You can meet other international students during this event and everything is free of charge.
We have invited a Needle Felting expert to teach us the basics of this craft. During the workshop you will felt your own winter-creation, which you can hang in your Christmastree, or anywhere else in your home! Afterwards, a free dinner will be served to enjoy together with the other students. For participation of the workshop, it is not necessary to be creative. As long as you are willing to interact with other human beings, you’ll be fine. Please be aware that wool is used as material, so this workshop may not be suitable for you if you are allergic to wool.
Will you be joining us and become the proud owner of a felted snowman or reighndeer? The practical information can be found below. We hope to see you during this event!

While coping with autism, studying can cause extra challenges. For example: realistic planning, dealing with big amounts of work or group work. Besides being successful in studying, you also want to save energy and time for other activities. If you notice, you have trouble with finding a good balance, the study support group can offer you guidance in a small group.
Goal
The goal is to support the study progress in order to help prevent early drop-out and promote independence in the study process.
The study support group is offered several times a year. The programme consists of 7 meetings of 1.5 hours, on a set day each week. The group maximum is 8 students.
Topics
- Studying with autism - resources
- Study skills and time management
- Dealing with overstimulation and fatigue
- Stress management
- Social contacts and communication
- Teamwork
- Student life

To what extent do you monitor your energy levels during the day and plan your activities accordingly? An active or passive break if necessary? Or do you recognize the tendency to continue working at the expense of proper breaks? The fact is that the harder we work, the less likely we are able to observe how we are doing. Or, more importantly, what we really need. If you are eager to discover how to manage your energy levels, perhaps the workshop 'Energy Management' is something for you! After this workshop you will have a better understanding of your own energy patterns. You are better able to observe and act on your physical, emotional and mental states. As a result you will experience more flow, less drain and a better work-rest balance.

A full schedule and pressure to perform sometimes leave little opportunity to unwind. If there is too much tension for too long, it becomes increasingly difficult to relax as your worries increase. This can lead to high stress levels, which is unpleasant on the short term and unhealthy on the long term. If you want to learn to manage your stress, perhaps the workshop 'Tackle Stress' is something for you! After this workshop you will have a better understanding of your own stress responses. You will be better able to recognize these signals and respond to them more consciously. As a result you will experience less anxiety and more grip.

Do you ever reflect on what makes you happy? Or what the world needs and how you can contribute to that? Or how you can earn your money in a meaningful way, while also doing what you are good at? During the workshop 'Find your Ikigai' you will search for your Ikigai: your sources of meaning. After this workshop you will have a better understanding of what makes your life meaningful. You will be better able to experience and explain what drives you in life. This will give you both direction and energy/inspiration. With your increased self-awareness it becomes easier to make a decision and make a next step.

Performance pressure, decision-making stress, feeling overwhelmed... We'd all like to know how to deal with it. Or rather, how to prevent it. How do you learn to deal with expectations of yourself and others, with stress and emotions? This is called "autonomy" in psychology. During the workshop 'Autonomie Versterken' you will learn in 5 sessions spread out between 12 weeks how to find your own autonomy and how to strengthen it.

Positive Psychology is all about discovering your strengths and values and capitalizing on these in various life domains. In this interactive lecture, you will learn more about the 5 pillars of Positive Psychology, also called the PERMA model. Throughout the lecture, you will be challenged to apply and experience some positive interventions and techniques yourself. The focus will be on what is strong, not on what is wrong. Practicing such an approach will enable you to flourish, increase your wellbeing and the quality of life. Once you are familiar with the techniques, you can easily continue with these on your own and teach the principles to other people.
There are currently no available trainings for block 1. New dates will be announced soon.
