Your time at Utrecht University as a student of Molecular & Biophysical Life Sciences (MBLS) will soon begin. On this page you can read important information and links to kick-off your studies succesfully.

Register for courses via Osiris. You can use the CoursePlanner to carefully plan your courses and generate a personal timetable.

Late registration

Should you have missed the normal registration period, or if you wish to change courses, you may be able to register during the 'late registration days' just prior to the period. Some courses fill up quickly though so there is no guarantee that you can register: if the maximum amount of students was reached during the normal registration period, the course will remain closed during the 'late registration days'.

Please note:

You cannot choose two courses in the same time slot, unless you have received explicit permission from your study advisor.
You can only register for courses during the registration period of a block.

Be aware that most faculties use a semester registration! You must then register in June for periods 1 and 2, and in October for periods 3 and 4. The dates may differ slightly per faculty, so always check the web information of the relevant faculty!

Please note: for some courses, you have to enroll per semester. To be sure, always check the information about enrollment at the Osiris course page under the tab 'Course enrolment'.

For period 4	Course registration: 26 January until 6 February 2026 Late registration: 30 and 31 March 2026 Start courses: 20 April 2026

The course registration opens at 9:00 hours (this was previously 0:00 hours).

Please note: registration deadlines for minors and profiles may differ from the regular registration periods for courses.

De-register for courses

If you have registered for a course that you do not want to take after further consideration, please unsubscribe as soon as possible so a place becomes available for a fellow student. You deregister via OSIRIS. You can deregister at the latest during the regular registration periods. After the last date of the registration period and before the start of the course, you can contact Student Affairs about this. It is no longer possible to deregister after the start of the course. If you decide to stop after the start of the course, a 'ND' (not participated) will appear in your file, this has NO effect on the judicium (cum laude).

Install digital tools and log into platforms

You will receive a Solis ID and e-mail address, which will give you access to various educational platforms that are important to follow your studies. For example the MyUU app, Outlook or Brightspace. The MyUU app also contains your digital student card.

Searching for information about your studies

The student site and the EER is the correct source, not Gemini (Google) or other AI (e.g. ChatGPT)

When you search for information about your programme via Google and/or ChatGPT, you often get summaries. These seems useful, but unfortunately, the AI also uses outdated, deleted or incorrect pages from other programmes/faculties to formulate answers. For example, incorrect registration periods for courses.

To avoid using incorrect information, always check the links used and only rely on the information provided on the student website. Or check the EER/OER if you want to be sure.
