The courses of Mathematical Sciences are organised by:
- Mastermath: the national programme of mathematical master courses
- The Mathematical Institute in Utrecht: local small-scale courses and seminars
- The Stochastic and Financial Mathematics (SFM) programme
- The Industrial and Applied Mathematics (IAM) programme

Below you will find information on the courses for the academic year 2024-2025, information about how to enrol for the courses and the timetables of the courses.

How to register for Mastermath courses
Register for Mastermath courses through the website of Mastermath. There you will also find information about travel reimbursement. You should also register locally at the UU through Osiris Student for these courses during the UU registration periods. For the fall semester 2024, Osiris Student is open for registration between 03/06-21/06 and 19/08-15/09, for the spring semester 2025 between 04/11-22/11 and 20/01-17/02.
The local courses are listed in this schedule.
More details about the prerequisites, course content and rooms will be published in the CoursePlanner or go to MyTimetable for times and rooms (published a few weeks before the semester starts).
Local courses and seminars might be cancelled if there are very few students interested in the course.
You should register for the courses through Osiris Student. For the fall semester 2024, Osiris Student is open for registration between 03/06-21/06 and 19/08-15/09, for the spring semester 2025 between 04/11-22/11 and 20/01-17/02.
The following courses at the UvA and VU are part of SFM and are not Mastermath courses:

- Portfolio Theory
- Simulation Methods in Statistics
- Statistical Models
- Stochastic Processes for Finance
- Stochastic Simulation
* This course replaces Stochastic Optimization (53748SOP6Y). The courses cannot be both counted towards your degree.

How to register for SFM courses
You have to register at the university where the course is given as elective/secondary subject student (Dutch: bijvakstudent). This can be done online: UvA and VU.
The following courses of the TU/e's Industrial and Applied Engineering master's programme are allowed in the Mathematical Sciences programme:
- Algebraic combinatorics (2MMD50)
- Applied cryptography (2DMI10)
- Cryptographic protocols (2DMI00)
- Graphs and algorithms (2MMD30)
- Multilinear algebra and applications (2MMD20)
- Random graphs (2MMS60)
- Stochastic networks (2MMS40)
You have to register for these courses at TU/e as an elective student (Dutch: bijvakstudent).
