Master courses Mathematical Sciences

The courses of Mathematical Sciences are organised by:

  • Mastermath: the national programme of mathematical master courses
  • The Mathematical Institute in Utrecht: local small-scale courses and seminars
  • The Stochastic and Financial Mathematics (SFM) programme
  • The Industrial and Applied Mathematics (IAM) programme

Courses 2019-2020

Below you find information on the courses for the academic year 2019-2020 and information about how to enrol for the courses and the timetables of the courses.

Schedules and list of courses

Here you find the programme for Fall 2019 and Spring 2020. Details about the prerequisites, course content and locations will be published on the website of Mastermath.

How to register for Mastermath courses

You can register for Mastermath courses on the website of Mastermath. There you will also find information about travel reimbursement. You should also register locally at the UU in Osiris for these courses during the UU registration periods. For the fall semester 2019, Osiris is open for registration between 19/8-16/9, for the spring semester 2020 between 28/10-24/11 and 20/1-17/2.

Schedules and list of courses

The planned schedule for the local courses is in this pdf.

More details about the prerequisites, course content and locations will be published in the course catalogue OSIRIS (you can use the course codes in the pdf) or go to My Timetable for time and location (published a few weeks before the semester starts).

Local courses and seminars might be cancelled if there are very few students interested in the course.

How to register for Local courses

You should register for the courses in Osiris. For the fall semester 2019, Osiris is open for registration between 19/8-16/9, for the spring semester 2020 between 28/10-24/11 and 20/1-17/2.

Schedules and list of courses

The following courses at the UvA and VU are part of SFM and are not Mastermath courses:

The schedule will be published on the websites of the UvA and VU. For information we refer to the websites of SFM at the UvA and VU.

How to register for SFM courses

  • If the SFM course is also a Mastermath course, the registration is online via Mastermath
  • If the SFM course is also a local UU course, the registration is via Osiris.
  • For SFM courses that are neither Mastermath nor UU courses, you have to register at the university where the course is given as a guest/secondary course student (Dutch: bijvakstudent). This can be done online: UvA and VU. You will also need a letter from the exam committee, which you have to send to the university where the course is given. Here you can find a Word-document with a template of this letter. Please fill in your name, date and course name, print the letter and go to Steven Wepster (room 705 in the HFG) to get the letter signed.

Schedules and list of courses
