|---|---|
| Primary electives | 22.5 EC |
| Secondary electives | 22.5 EC |

Primary courses
You must choose three 7.5 EC courses out of a list (see the drop-down below).

The secondary electives are meant to broaden your interests and skills. Choose a profile to direct your career towards education, communication or management or simply take extra courses that match your interest.
What can you choose?
A profile
You may replace one of the 7.5 EC primary electives and 22,5 EC in secondary electives with the 30 EC profile Complex systems. More information you can find on the Profiles page.
Extra courses
Take three courses in the categories below:
- Remaining primary electives
- Other courses from research-oriented master programmes4, within or outside the UU, that contribute towards the aim of the programme and the individual study plan (subject to approval by the Board of Examiners)
- A deficiency courses (if assigned as a requirement)
You can also choose secondary electives from this pre-defined list:
Research part
In the Research part of the programme, you will combine the theoretical knowledge you obtained during courses with practical experimental skills leading to the Master’s thesis.
Keep in mind that Part 1 of the research project (INFOMHC1) can start as soon as you have completed the mandatory, primary, and secondary electives. Part 2 of the research project can start after completing Part 1 and all courses.
