Course registration

Step 1: Check the course registration periods

First, check in which term you should register for a course. There are defined registration periods and late registration periods in which you have to register for courses for future teaching periods. This means you have to plan ahead. See the overview in the drop-down below.

Please note that registration periods may vary by faculty*. Check the course in the course planner or the course catalogue what the registration deadline is for your preferred course.

*The Faculty of Humanities registers courses per semester (two periods) instead of per period. The registration days for Humanities courses (including Philosophy) can be found here.

Step 2: Select a course

An overview of all courses and additional explanations can be found in the course catalogue or the CoursePlanner.

Tip: when searching for a course, write down the course code (in brackets after the course), this way you can quickly find the course during the registration period.

The list of primary HPS electives can be found on the page about year 1, the EER and the study guide. HPS students have access to all primary electives. However, some courses at other faculties work with waiting lists for students from outside their departments. This does not necessarily mean that they are full; you can check with the course coordinator.

Step 3: Check the entry requirements

After you have found an interesting course, it is important to check if you meet the entry requirements. You can check this in the course catalogue or when you click on a course in the CoursePlanner.

Step 4: Check the timeslot to avoid overlap

Courses are divided in advance into timeslots. To avoid that your courses overlap, it is important to check the timeslot of a course. The timeslot can be found in the CoursePlanner to the right of the course title or in the course catalogue under 'Course enrolment'.

Note: some courses do not use their entire timeslots, so if two courses are in the same timeslot, it might still be possible to do them both. In that case please check the schedule, or ask the course coordinator if the schedule is not available yet.

Step 5: Register or deregister

Put the registration period in your calendar, and register for the course as soon as possible because full is full. Go to Osiris Student , click on 'Enrol / Course'  and find the course you want to register for. Click the 'Register' button and go through the steps there.

⤑ The Student Desk of the Faculty of Science can only help with questions and requests regarding courses of the Faculty of Science. For those of another faculty, students should contact the Student Desk of the faculty concerned.
