The programme of Climate Physics (120 EC) usually takes two years to complete and consists of four parts:

Mandatory courses

37.5 EC

Primary electives

22.5 EC

Secondary electives

15 EC

45 EC

Mandatory courses

The first year of the programme consists of mandatory and elective courses. During the second year of the programme, students start working on a Research Project (thesis), based on independent research. But they also still have a few mandatory courses.

Primary electives

Primary electives (22.5 to 37,5 EC) are to be selected from a wide range of offerings in specialized Climate Physics courses. See overview below.

Secondary electives

The secondary electives are meant to broaden your interests and skills. You can gain work experience in industry by performing an internship on a specific research theme, or, with a profile direct your career towards education, communication or management or simply take extra courses that match your interest.

Research Project

During the second year, you will complete an independent Research Project during 9 months of research. In the Research Project, you will combine the theoretical knowledge you obtained during courses with practical experimental skills leading to the Master’s thesis.
