The Student Desk at Student Affairs keeps track of your study progress in Osiris. When Osiris indicates that you have completed all the required elements of your degree your dossier is forwarded to the Board of Examiners. The Board of Examiners then checks whether you meet all examination requirements. Following the Board's approval your graduation date will be emailed to you on your UU email account.
Please note! The graduation date is not the day of the graduation ceremony!

You may expect to be able to terminate your enrolment at Utrecht University per 1 September.
Please note! Graduating automatically does not mean your enrolment will end automatically!
The Grade Point Average (GPA) plays an important part in the admission procedures for Master’s programmes, in obtaining PhD positions or grants and in job applications. Your GPA may be requested during university admission procedures and job applications. The Final GPA of a Master’s degree programme is the ‘Grade Point Average’ of all obligatory exam results within the Master’s programme.

The requirements for a cum laude graduation can be found in the Education and Examination Regulations of the Graduate School of Natural Sciences.
Please note! Graduating does not mean that your enrolment at Utrecht University will also terminate. You need to personally terminate your enrolment via Studielink.
After you have been informed of your graduation date, you can terminate your enrolment per the first of the following month. You may also be eligible for a tuition fee refund. You are entitled to a refund of 1/12th of the total tuition fees for that academic year for each month you are no longer enrolled. If you graduate in June, July, or August, then there is no need to terminate your enrolment, since termination of enrolment as of 1 July or 1 August will not entitle you to any refund of tuition fees. If you do not terminate, your enrolment will end automatically as of 1 September.
Clear instructions on how to go about terminating your enrolment and details concerning refunds can be found here.
It is your own responsibility to cancel your student grant and travel card from DUO should you graduate or terminate your study for any other reason. If, for instance, you terminate your enrolment as of 1 October, you should stop your student grant and travel card as of 1 October as well with DUO, and you should do so before this date.
Please note! Once you are no longer enrolled as a student, you may no longer qualify for agreements you entered into as a student, such as student housing, a student bank account, or insurance policy.
