UU grades abroad
To make our grades transparent for foreign universities, UU uses Grading Tables. You can use these, for example, if you want to know how the grades you obtained on exchange will be translated to your diploma at UU.
About the Grading Tables
These tables show the frequency distribution of the grades awarded at our university. You can see what percentage of all passing grades awarded in the past 3 years were rounded off to a 6.0, a 6.5, a 7.0, etc. The Grading Tables are printed on the International Diploma Supplement of all graduates with a graduation date from 1 September 2017. In addition to the Grading Tables, you will also receive an average on your diploma supplement on the ten-point scale.

The Grading Tables do not show whether you belong to the top 10% (or another percentage) of your programme. The tables are also not about the weighted average and not (only) about your fellow students.
Grading Tables replace the Grade Point Average
Until 1 September 2017, we at UU used the Grade Point Average (GPA) to make our grades transparent for universities abroad. This is a four-point scale on which many Anglo-Saxon universities express their weighted average. However, an explanation is always necessary. The standardisation of the GPA differs per (international) university.
