Identity fraud
You are a victim of identity fraud when someone abuses your identity, for example by taking out a subscription or loan in your name. It may not be completely preventable, but you can limit the risks. See the tips below.
Do not make a copy of your ID or passport
With a copy, someone can pretend to be you and take out a subscription under your name. Almost one third of identity fraud starts with such a copy. Do you still need a copy? Use the special app from the central government.
Check if a website is safe
You can check if you are visiting a safe website by checking if the URL starts with "https" instead of "http", where the 's' stands for a secure connection. In addition, you will often see a padlock next to the address bar, which indicates that the website is encrypted and sends your data securely.
Do this check so that you know that the website is real and that you are not being scammed.
